Mt. Annapurna is the 10th highest mountain in the world measuring 8091 meter above the sea level. The local people regard Annapurna as goddess of food giver. The word Annapurna is derived from the Sanskrit word “Anna” which means grains (food) and “purna” means full, complete and perfect.
The Annapurna circuit trek is one of the most popular trekking destinations of Nepal featuring rich culture and geographical structure. It is famous for spectacular views of snowcapped mountains including three mountains over eight thousand meter (Mt. Annapurna:8091m, Dhaulagiri:8167m and Manaslu:8163m), variable and beautiful landscape, superlative Poon Hill and Thorongla (5416 m), traditional Manangi-Tibetan, Gurung and Thakali villages with beautiful mani walls (sequence of deities and mantras carved on stone) , kani (entrance gate), chortens (stupas) and monasteries. Apart from mountains, it is also rich in flora (rhododendron-the national flower of Nepal, oak, pine, juniper to name a few) and fauna (Blue sheep, Himalayan Thar,Ppheasant).
We commence our trek in the moist mid hill of Lamjung district. We walk along the Marshyandi River, crossing traditional villages of Gurung and Brahmin in lower Marshyangdi valley where as Manangi-tibetan villages in upper Marshyandi. We walk through winding and variable forest of oak, pine and juniper, eye catching waterfalls and mesmerizing Himalayan views. Crossing the world’s biggest trekking pass, Thorongla (5416 m) leads us to the holy place Muktinath, the windiest valley (Jomsom-Kagbeni), Marpha (apple garden of Nepal) accordingly. We then descend down through winding forest to Tatopani where there is a hot spring and then ascend up to Gorepani-Poonhill for the best panoramic views of surrounding mountains. We then hike to Nayapul and drive to the beautiful city of Nepal, Pokhara.
